A Taste of Puget Sound's Late Winter Bounty
As the days slowly lengthen and the first whispers of spring drift across Puget Sound, we find ourselves in that in-between season. The heart of winter is behind us, but the full flush of spring is still a breath away. This transitional time offers its own special flavors, and we're excited to share a taste of them with you.
Our new 2025 Winter Seasoning Blend is a savory and sweet celebration of the late winter harvest. Rich Winecrisp apples come from Sauk Farm in one of our favorite Washington small towns, Concrete. These organic apples, with their perfect balance of sweet and tart, offer a late-season nod to the winter fruit harvest. Alongside them, we feature vibrant red onions from First Cut Farm. These onions, grown in the rich soil of the Skagit Valley, add a subtle sweetness and a beautiful pop of color to the blend.
We hope that you take a moment, whether it’s with our seasoning blend or some other locally sourced foods, to appreciate the unique bounty of the Puget Sound region and those who farm it, even as the seasons shift. The combination of these locally sourced ingredients, along with the warmth of dried mustard and sage, captures the essence of this transitional time.
How can you use this blend? It adds a lovely depth to roasted root vegetables, reflecting the lingering heartiness of winter. It also pairs beautifully with lighter fare, hinting at the fresh flavors to come. Try it sprinkled on roasted cauliflower or stirred into a creamy potato soup. A rub on roasted chicken or pork brings a touch of sweetness and savory depth. And, as always, it’s a wonderful addition to popcorn for a cozy evening when the Pacific Northwest weather makes you want to stay curled up inside.
A Limited Taste of Place
This blend is a true reflection of the Puget Sound's late winter bounty. Because we rely on fresh, local ingredients, it's a limited edition offering. Once the apples and onions are gone, this particular blend will be too. We encourage you to grab a jar while you can and savor this special taste of place.
